Velvet Bloom is painted wet. The blooms are huge and softly blurred at the edges, cream and blush and a cool dusty blue, each opening around a dense amber and navy centre that is the only sharp thing in the design. Grey blue leaves fold behind them and the taupe ground shows only in slivers. There is no line work anywhere, which is what gives it the velvet in the name and why it suits silk and satin, where the print can move. It comes with isolated elements and ten colorways, from ivory and dove grey through greige to slate.

Painted by hand on iPad, no AI. A 6000 pixel seamless tile printing 20 by 20 inches at 300 DPI, with isolated elements included. Available for exclusive licensing, per product category and territory.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does exclusive licensing work?

You license the artwork for one product category in one territory, and that combination is withdrawn from everyone else for the whole term. Nobody else making your kind of product in your market will be using it. Copyright and ownership stay with me; you receive exclusive usage rights.

Licenses are allocated first come, first served, per combination.

What do category exclusivity and territory exclusivity mean?

They are the two axes exclusivity is scoped on, and neither implies the other.

Category exclusivity means nobody else may use the design on your product category. Territory exclusivity means nobody else may use it in your territory.

Exclusive rights to swimwear in Spain leave the same artwork free for wallpaper in Spain, and free for swimwear in Australia. Worldwide or all-category exclusivity is available by arrangement.

What counts as one product category?

There are fourteen defined categories and they do not overlap, so there is no argument later about what your license covered. Kitchenware in hard goods is separate from kitchen and dining linens, sleepwear is separate from adult apparel, and swimwear and footwear are each their own category.

The full list with definitions is on the exclusive licensing page. A use that falls outside them is quoted on enquiry.

How is a territory defined?

Your territory is where your business operates and distributes: your physical stores, your warehouses, where your stock sits, and where your major stockists are. It is not where your company is incorporated, and it is not where your goods are manufactured.

A company based in Zurich that manufactures in Poland but holds stock and sells only in Belgium licenses Belgium. An online store targeting the United States that occasionally ships abroad licenses the United States; if it opens a branch in Canada and holds stock there, it licenses Canada as well.

Occasional cross-border orders do not create a territory. The worked examples are on the exclusive licensing page.

What does an exclusive license cost?

From €375 for one product category in one country. Several categories or several countries are quoted at a reduced rate.

For coverage across the European Union the countries are counted and a substantially reduced rate applies. Larger territories, including continents, economic areas such as the EEA, and worldwide coverage, are agreed case by case.

Is this design still available?

Availability is per combination, so a design may be taken for one category and country and still be free for yours. Use Check availability, tell me your product categories and countries, and I will confirm by return with a quote and full terms.

Is the artwork AI generated?

No. Every pattern is painted by hand in Procreate, using watercolor brushes I made myself. Nothing here is generated, traced, or assembled from stock. A single design usually takes weeks.

What can I make with it?

Physical goods within your agreed category and territory, manufactured and sold by you, with unlimited production. Your license names the category, the territory, the term and any further conditions.

Use outside the named category or territory needs an additional license.

What happens when the term ends?

The term is a minimum of three years and can be longer if you want it, running from the date the artwork is supplied. Manufacture must stop on expiry. You then have twelve months to sell goods you already made.

One thing worth knowing: exclusivity ends when the term ends, not when the sell-off ends. The combination can be licensed to someone else while you are still selling through your remaining stock.

Can I add another product category or country later?

Yes, if it has not been licensed exclusively to someone else in the meantime. Ask and I will check, and adding to an existing license is quoted at a reduced rate.

Are there restrictions?

You may not resell, redistribute or sublicense the artwork as a file, use it outside the agreed category, territory or term, or use it for illegal, defamatory or offensive purposes. Full details are in the executed license.

Can I modify the artwork?

Yes. Recolor it, resize it, rearrange the elements. The layered PSD and the isolated PNGs are there for exactly that. Significant derivatives should still sit within the spirit of the original artwork.

What do I get in the pack?

One layered PSD, with the pattern on a single layer above the background color options, so you can change the background yourself. Each colorway as its own JPG. The individual flowers and leaves as separate PNGs on transparent backgrounds, ready to drop into your own layouts. Everything in RGB, at ultra high resolution. The exact tile size is in the specifications above.

See what is in a pattern pack.

Do I have to credit you?

No. You are welcome to, and it is always nice to see, but it is not a condition of the license.

Do you offer custom or commissioned work?

No. Commissioned and custom work is not offered. Licensing is available on existing artwork only.

Do you offer discounts for bulk licensing?

Each license is priced individually on the scope of rights. Several categories or countries in one license are quoted at a reduced rate, but there is no standard bulk discount.

Is VAT included in the price?

Prices are shown excluding VAT.

  • EU business without a valid EU VAT number: VAT applies
  • Private customers in the EU: VAT applies
  • Businesses in Spain: VAT applies
  • Anywhere outside the EU, business or private: no VAT
